Austin, oh Austin. When it comes to cities, this one is hard to beat. It has everything. Great food, parks everywhere you look and great entertainment. But I wouldn't call Austin dog-friendly, I would call it dog obsessed! You have to look far and wide and to find someone in Austin doing something without their dog and those are just the type of people we like!
When it comes to food, there are so many delicious options. We always search out places with outdoor seating and because of the weather here, that is very easy to find. We really enjoyed our meals at Torchy's Tacos and we also loved going to the The Picnic-Food Truck Park. We both ate at Coat and Thai here, but everything looked really good. The picnic table set up was also really great for us.

HOPE Outdoor Art Gallery
The HOPE Outdoor Art Gallery is one of the coolest places that I have ever been. It is a huge graffiti park and the artwork is always changing. Some of the artwork is so amazing, but it won't be long before something else amazing takes its place. You can even bring a few cans of spray paint and add your own masterpiece! This is a fun place to take the dogs for pictures too.
Zilker Park
Zilker Park is what dogs dream about. There are tons of trails to walk them on, with gorgeous views of the river and plenty of opportunities for them to go swimming. The best part is the dog park. It isn't fenced, so you have to be able to trust your dog off leash, but it literally looks like what you would imagine dog heaven would be. It is a hill of happy frolicking dogs, having the time of their life. Take your dog here!
Congress Bridge Bats
This is one of those things that you just have to do if you are visiting Austin during the summer months. The Congress Bridge is home to the largest urban bat colony in world at over 1.5 million bats! Just as the sun is setting the bats start flying out. You can either watch them from the bridge or from the grassy patch below. We stood on the bridge and got quite a show. They were quite hard to get a good picture of, but this is Chickpea waiting patiently for them to emerge:
Basically, Austin is a wonderful city with so much to do and see. It should really be on your short list of places to visit in the near future!
