Like many people, we have the travel bug. It is extremely hard for us to stay in one place for too long, knowing that there is an entire world out there just begging to be explored. There is one thing that makes it just a little bit harder for us to just pick up and go wherever we want, whenever we want. We have four dogs. Four dogs who we refuse to leave...under any circumstances. We bring them with us wherever we go, but we've made it work and we are going to use this blog to share all of our dog travel tips.
So, in the beginning we traveled, like most people, by car and stayed in hotels, but this got quite costly for the amount of travel that we were doing, plus even the most dog friendly hotels usually had something to say about four dogs. Without much research, we decided to purchase an older RV on craigslist. We took some great trips in "Big Babs" as we called her, but she was just too big and too old. It was impossible to drive her through busy cities without minor (major) panic attacks and if you happened to miss a turn, forget it. But, we knew we were closer to what we wanted. That's when we discovered the magic of vans. The size was just right. There would be enough room to store everything we would need to live on the road and the dogs would be able to walk around and stretch their legs, but we would be able to fit into a regular sized parking spot. It was settled, we were getting a van.
I had dreams of VW Bus, but I knew realistically that neither one of us have any type of mechanical skills, so we would have to get something fairly new. We searched and searched and kept going back to the 2016 Ram Promaster, something about that little pug nose it has just kept calling our name. So, about 7 months ago we welcomed "Vannah Montana" into our family and she has just been perfect. She has already taken us on so many amazing adventures. From the very northern tip of Maine to the southernmost point of Key West, Florida. 2018 is going to be a big year for us as we take traveling from a hobby to a full-time life style, but we couldn't be more excited for what the new year has in store for us!
